After a painful separation from her husband, Barbara, an attractive woman in her mid-forties, wants to change her mind and really relax. With her best friend Silke, she travels to a chic ski resort to enjoy her new-found freedom to the full. As soon as she arrives at the posh ski resort, Silke thinks she recognizes Hermann, the love of her life, in a hotel guest who seems to have died two years ago in unexplained circumstances. Has she been taken in by a marriage fraud? Silke persuades her friend Barbara to play the wealthy decoy.

The two friends Marie and Hannah spend a vacation together in Italy. While Hannah has just been divorced, the fun-loving Marie throws herself into an affair with the Viennese surgeon Xavier Gruber. However, he only wants a vacation flirtation without consequences - and leaves her the business card of car mechanic Xavier Martin, which he received by chance, when he leaves unexpectedly. Back in Germany, Marie begins to write ardent love letters to the supposed doctor in Vienna. The shy mechanic is initially amused, but eventually falls in love with the letter writer and confesses his feelings to her without clearing up the misunderstanding.

Kathleen Duske, the wife of Frank Duske who blackmailed the investigator Tom Kowalski for his hit and run, was murdered. She planned to leave her husband because she led a relationship with the painter Roy Reisinger.

A man is murdered on a remote riverbank, and a young woman confesses to the murder to the police that same night. Forensic psychologist Karla Eckhardt identifies the confessed perpetrator as Anna Lobrecht, whom she had classified as a compulsive liar in a report two years ago. It's possible that Lobrecht isn't telling the whole truth this time either.
